Rules:
We will do our best to adhere to the USGA Rules of Golf which can be found at: http://www.usga.org/playing/rules/books/index.html. If you have any questions about specific rules, feel free to give me a call at 951-990-2608. As golf is a gentleman’s game, all instances of penalty strokes are to be taken by the player himself on the honor system. Also, please refrain from using inappropriate language. We are to be an example to others. With that said, here are a few highlights and league rules:
League Rules:
Rule 777.1
If at any time you cannot make it to a specified match or tournament, you are ineligible from any prize, monetary winnings, trophies, all-inclusive vacation packages, or 4 course meals at McDonalds that may have been the award for the given match or tournament.
Rule 777.2
If during the course of play you use the Lord’s name in vain, you will be assessed 2 penalty strokes plus a flogging from your fellow competitors.
Rule 777.3
Proper golf etiquette should be followed at all times. If you don’t know proper golf etiquette, ask someone.

Golf Rules:
General:
The ball must
be played as it lies except on the putting surface where it may be marked,
lifted, cleaned, and placed before continuing.
On every hole you must play your ball until it comes to rest in the bottom of the cup. This means no gimmie’s. You must putt every ball until it is holed.
If you ground your club (touch the ground before you take your swing) in a hazard (sand trap), you must take one penalty stroke.
If you putt from on the putting surface and the ball strikes the pin, you must take one penalty stroke. If you hit a shot from off the putting surface (regardless of club choice) and the ball strikes the pin, there is no penalty.
If you address your ball and your club touches the ball prior to your swing, that is one stroke.
If you move an impediment (branch, leaf, pine needle, stick, dead bird) and your ball moves, you must take one penalty stroke.
Out of Bounds:
If a ball is hit and it is thought it may be out of bounds (white stakes/paint), a provisional ball should be hit from the spot of the original shot. If during the search for the first ball it is found to be in play, continue to play the first ball and pick up the provisional ball.
If during the search for the first ball it is found to be on or over the white OB line (between the stakes), it is Out of Bounds. This ball must be picked up, the player must take one penalty stroke, and the provisional ball should be played for the remainder of the hole.
Lost:
If a ball is hit and during the search for this ball it cannot be found, the player must return to the spot of the original shot, take one penalty stroke, drop a ball, and play the new ball for the remainder of the hole.
Water:
If a ball is hit into a water hazard, it may be played from the hazard if the player wishes. If the player decides it is not playable from the hazard, the player must take one penalty stroke. Then he may drop a ball at any point in a straight line from the pin to the point the ball is thought to have entered the hazard (not closer to the hole) as far back as the player wishes.
Unplayable lie:
If a ball is deemed to be in an unplayable lie (under a bush, in a gopher hole, in a tree) it may be dropped within 2 club lengths (no closer to the hole) and the player must take one penalty stroke.
Man-made/placed impediment:
If a ball/stance/swing is impaired by any man-made/placed object (cart path, cart sign/rope, sprinkler head, fence, railroad tie), the ball may be dropped within 2 club lengths of the closest point of relief (no closer to the hole) and there is NO penalty.
Another hole’s putting surface:
If during the course of play your ball comes to rest on the putting surface of a different hole than the one you are playing (You are playing hole 4 and your ball stops on the green of hole 7), you must drop your ball off the putting surface within two club lengths (no closer to the hole) and there is NO penalty.
If at any time during the course of play you are unsure of a ruling, you should have all players of your group come to a consensus about how to proceed. Whatever the agreed upon action is must be followed (penalty or not).
